Utah Mountains, German Beer, and The Glizzy: Our Journey to Snowbird’s Oktoberfest Celebration

Utah Mountains, German Beer, and The Glizzy: Our Journey to Snowbird’s Oktoberfest Celebration

There’s something magical about the crisp mountain air, the sound of lively polka music, and the sight of biergartens dotting the landscape of Snowbird’s Oktoberfest celebration. As the autumn leaves start to turn, thousands of people gravitate to this celebration of Bavarian culture nestled in the Utah mountains. For us, joining the festivities was more than just an opportunity to showcase the raddest performance apparel designs - it was a chance to participate in the cherished tradition of sharing beer, music, and sausage with friends new and old.

Being at Snowbird Oktoberfest wasn’t just about selling products or brand awareness; it was about embracing the energy of the event and sharing it with everyone around us. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this wasn’t just another festival—it was a gathering of people united by a love for fun, community, and a little bit of adventure.

The Joy of Connection

Setting up our booth, we quickly realized that the Snowbird Oktoberfest was a melting pot of diverse visitors—families, outdoor enthusiasts, locals, and international travelers. The spirit of camaraderie was infectious, and it didn’t take long for us to get into the festive mood. It’s easy to make friends and talk about Session when you drink 1-liter steins of Marzen style beer!

One of the highlights of the event was seeing people’s reactions to our collection of performance shirts, especially our standout piece, "The Glizzy Guru", or "The Glizzy" for short. This shirt wasn’t just a top seller; it was a conversation starter. With its vibrant, hotdog-themed design, "The Glizzy" embodied the playful, carefree vibe of the festival. It was fun, it was bold, and it was exactly what Oktoberfest was all about - embracing the unexpected and having a good time… sausage in hand.

Festive Fashion Meets Function

At Snowbird Oktoberfest, tradition meets modernity in the best possible way. The event honors Bavarian customs, with attendees donning dirndls and lederhosen, while also embracing contemporary influences. For us, this blend of old and new was the perfect backdrop to introduce our line of performance apparel. Our shirts, designed for both style and function, fit right in with the dynamic atmosphere - combining eye-catching patterns with high-quality, moisture-wicking fabric ideal for the mountain environment. Our hats went part and parcel with the shirts, made of durable polyester designed to endure the sun whether one is going for a hike, out on the lake, or sipping a Radeberger with friends.

As mentioned before, "The Glizzy" was the star of our collection, not just because of its quirky design, but because it resonated with the festival-goers who were looking for something unique to wear. When we first contemplated what patterns we wanted to bring to market, “The Glizzy” was created as a joke between old Army friends and can’t seem to grow up. But after some market testing and a design that seemingly speaks to every sausage-lover’s soul, we decided to bring it to life. And now, seeing people wear The Glizzy and our other shirts while enjoying a stein of beer and dancing to traditional Bavarian music was incredibly rewarding. It was a reminder that fashion can be a fun and integral part of cultural experiences.

Becoming Part of the Festivities

As the day went on, we found ourselves getting more and more involved in the Oktoberfest activities. Our booth became a popular spot not just for shopping, but for mingling and sharing stories. Visitors would stop by to chat about their favorite festival moments, play a round of Session Pong, hear about our new brand, and we were more than happy to listen and join in on the fun.

What made Snowbird Oktoberfest truly special was the sense of community. Whether you were a first-time visitor or a seasoned Oktoberfest veteran, everyone was welcomed with open arms. The festival wasn’t just about beer and brats—it was about bringing people together, sharing in the joy of the season, and making memories that would last long after the last keg was tapped.

For our team, being a part of this community was the most rewarding aspect of the experience. We loved seeing our shirts and hats become a part of people’s Oktoberfest stories. "The Glizzy" was the fan-favorite, with many attendees coming back to our booth to buy one for a friend or family member after hearing how much fun others were having with it. It makes us think we should start brainstorming other fun, food-themed shirts to bring to market next!

Looking Forward to the Next Oktoberfest

As the Snowbird Oktoberfest came to a close, we packed up our booth with a sense of fulfillment and excitement for the future. We had gone in with the goal of sharing our performance apparel with a new audience, but we left with so much more—a deeper appreciation for the festival, new friends, and a treasure trove of great memories. The good news is, we’ll be headed to Snowbasin’s SnowWiesn Oktoberfest next weekend!

It is clear that any Oktoberfest isn’t just a place to sell products; it’s a place to connect, celebrate, and be part of something bigger. And we can’t wait to do it all over again. The real magic of Oktoberfest isn’t in the beer or the music—it’s in the connections you make and the shared experiences that bring people together. We’re grateful to have been part of it, and we’re excited to continue bringing a little bit of our own flavor to the festivities. Here’s to many more Oktoberfests and many more adventures with "The Glizzy" and beyond! Prost!
